The Little Submarine

Imagine you are in your own little submarine, maybe it's yellow (choose any color you like!)... and you are down in the darkness of the ocean. Something is not right, you feel off kilter, out of balance. You feel like something is missing, like you have forgotten a truth but you can't remember what it is. What is this world, you ask yourself. Who am I, beyond my name, my gender, my clothes and my beliefs? And then it happens, out of the corner of your eye you see a glint of light coming from above. In all the darkness, there is a sliver of golden light. It fills your soul, it lightens you and something unexpected starts to happen... the submarine starts to rise up through the water, ever so slowly. Little by little you notice the darkness is giving way to grayness, which is giving way to the beginning of light. But you feel afraid. The darkness was familiar. This light is unknown. The submarine stops rising and pauses. What does it take to help this little submarine rise up towards the light? How can you lighten the load, shed some ballast? What weight are you holding onto? So you take some time, get quiet and look inside to see what is causing this feeling of heaviness. If you start to shake, maybe it's anger, waiting to be expressed, waiting to be honored, waiting to be made welcome. Let it shake you to the core. Let it have it's moment. Maybe it's waited a long time to reach the surface. If you start to cry, maybe it's sadness, waiting to be expressed, waiting to be honored, waiting to be made welcome. Let it soak you to the core. Let it have it's moment. Maybe it's also waited a long time to reach the surface. If you start to feel lighter, maybe you are beginning to forgive yourself and others, as you realize that you were always doing the best you could and that others were always doing the best they could too. You realize that hurt people, hurt people, that people can only project onto others what they themselves are feeling. You feel compassion for all people who suffer, including your own suffering. Your heart opens up and expands, like a flower opening to the sunlight. Then maybe you start to laugh! At first a giggle and then it builds into hysterical laughter!! Little bubbles of joy leave the submarine and you start to rise again towards the light. Your lightness causes the submarine to rise, like helium does in a balloon. The light builds and builds. It starts to warm your face through the glass. And then your deep memories start to rise to the surface. You begin to remember you are so much more than a human body. You begin to remember you are so much more than the thoughts and beliefs you used to hold so dear. Believing yourself to be a separate body in a world of separate things kept you in some dark places, but oh, what joy, what amazement now to have the contrast between the dark and the light. Would you have been able to appreciate the darkness, deep in the ocean, without the light now pouring into your Being. What a glorious homecoming. Bathed once more in the light that carries the truth of what we really are. And so your little submarine reaches the surface and emerges fully into the light. You run completely out of words. There are no words. You are Home. And you realize in this moment that you never left Home. It was just a temporary forgetting, like a bad dream that you are gifted the opportunity to wake up from. Feel the warmth of the sun on your face, the joy of light in your heart and the peace in your whole Being . . the peace that passes all understanding. May we all rise and shine and remember our true nature. Wherever you are in this magical mystery tour back to the Light, I honour you and salute your bravery. Much love and hugs to you all.
