Peek experience

This partly finished painting is by my friend Martin Brookes. It’s a girl, emerging from the canvas. He has an incredible gift for capturing light and creating portraits. As I looked at the painting it seemed as if this girl was peeking out of a slit in the canvas and it inspired me to write this post today. Like all of us, she is peeking out into the manifested three dimensional world from the unmanifested, boundless, timeless space of the infinite. She emerges, bravely, into this world, into this universe, for a temporary experience of being in a body. And what a strange world this can be! But also, what a wonder! Like all of us, she hasn’t been given a guide book to being human or even a map of the world, so she does her best to learn, navigate and perhaps, this time, this life, to remember. Remember what though? What is this life? What is this body? Who are we all? What are we all doing? What does ‘alive’ and ‘dead’ really mean? Who were we before we peeked into this world? What was our original face? If I am an ‘I’ at all, I am curious. Curious for the truth. I am curious why more people aren’t, well, more curious! I invite you to be more curious and look into the depth of your being to see how deep the well goes. You can chuck a pebble in this well and you will never hear it reach the bottom - it’s infinite! Burn all concepts, all knowledge, all beliefs, everything you’ve ever been taught, burn it all on the funeral pyre of truth and see what pure luminescence is left . . . the light that we truly are. We are the manifested and the unmanifested. The noise and the silence. The war and the peace. And I think we are all hugely brave to peek through this quantum canvas. It’s not easy forgetting who and what we truly are. We are brave souls. A curious spark of the Divine. So give yourself a huge pat on the back for agreeing to be in a human body. You are amazing! You are a pioneer, a great explorer. And for so many of us the adventures of remembering are only just beginning . . . Wishing you peace, bravery and bucket loads of curiosity on this magical mystery tour called life! With all my love. Rob xxx - Rob Holmes credit: painting by Martin Brooks www.martinbrooksart.com
